A last break at Lumphini Park for to go to see the varans before to go at the railway station (Hua Lam Phong) take a night train to Chiang Maï in the north of the country. The Travel takes 13h for 791 Baht for the "Up" berth ("Low" berth is little more expensive but more comfortable! Around 20€)

Arrived at Chiang Maï at 8:00 am, the taxi of the hotel (that we booked on the net thanks to the book "Le routard") was waiting for us at the railway station (practical to avoid all the Tuk Tuk who take you at the hotel of their choice because they have a commission!)
The hotel's name is B.M.P Resident Tour & Trekking, it's a very nice place where you can meet a lot of backpackers, take a drink at the bar, go to the swimming pool, book treks... fo 400 baht (10€)/night for 2!

We booked a treck with 2 days/1 night for the following day in the mountains.

A non-vegetarian restaurant but with vegan options like a big pita bread with falafels and humus! It's also good to change of the fried rice!

Treck in the Mountains (From 20th december at 9:00am to the 21th at 5:00pm)
Before the treck we stopped to the market, buy some food for the dinner. We was agreeably surprise that the majority of the people who did the treck with us, didn't eat meat (two vegetarian, one vegan, a couple who didn't eat meat (but fish), two all-eating couple and us).
Time to walk an hour and we already have a break along the river to eat a meal we ordered and took on the road, vegan for us. Fried rice with vegetable and fruits.

Then, again after to walk, sometime on difficult footpath, we walked on narrow ways along of the cliff, we arrived around 4:00 pm at our camp, there was huts on place. And we begun to cook for the dinner.

The room (in the hut on the bottom on the middle) with a mosquito net with a lot of hole... fortunately no malaria in Chiang Maï and Dengue is only on the day.

Vegetables soup

Tofu, bean sprout and vegetable (Delicious!!!)

At 7:00 pm it was already very dark, campfire and candles ambience
Then we left the group (who chose to make a trek of 3 days) to go with a guide to the black run of the hike! Climbing the mountain is 70 ° for a long time! Then join another group and eat with them.

Rice with vegetables

Then we have a bamboo rafting trip, a kind of canoe but on bamboo, a small but pleasant walk without more, but I am still waiting for the rafting ...
After that we have decided to boycott the Elephant ride and wait until the group makes its ride ... (unfortunately it's a very famous tourist attraction in Thailand!)
Ce fut vraiment une excellente sortie !!!
It was truly a great day out!
I also want to tell you about a place where I was unfortunately unable to go, it's Elephant Nature Park, here are all collected from elephant abuse. All entrance fees to see the elephant in preserve are donated to the association. You even have the opportunity to spend the night on the site, or to volunteer (unfortunately you have to give the modest sum of 12,000 Baht ($ 393.71 or £ 248.39) for 7 days / 6 nights!)
"Taste to Heaven" restaurant (I will speak about it on my next post) give a part of their benefice at Elephant Nature Park to help elephants and other animals.
